В паузата между Whiskey Fest и Whiskey Journey и докато се чудя кога в България ще има събитие, което да ползва правилният термин „Whisky” …., представям една от ранните ми дегустации. Macallan дълго време остава в страни от вниманието ми, най-вероятно защото имам известно предубежде-ние към този бранд. Предубеждението не е свързано с качеството на продуктите, което намирам за отлично. От друга страна без особени усилия ще намерим немалко други уискита със същото качество, но много по малка популярност. Но всъщност моите предубеждения едва ли ви интересуват.

Macallan Triple Cask Matured 12 years Old отлежава поотделно в европейски дъбови шери бъчви, американски дъбови шери бъчви и американски дъбови бъчви за бърбън. Уискито отлежава в тези бъчви в продължение на 12 години след което майсторски се съчетава, за да се създаде този фино балансиран сингъл малц.

- ЦВЯТ
Светло златист. Не съм сигурен какво има предвид The Macallan под „слама“
- АРОМАТ
Ярки, лесно разграничими плодове: цитруси, праскови и акациев мед в началото. Следват открояващи се ванилия, с букет градински цветя. С времето ароматите се декомпозират и рекомбинират в свеж пролетен букет. При малко повече постоянство, наградата са нотки на прясно изпечени бисквити и лек опушен дъб. Нежна солена нишка придава акцент както на тежките аромати, така и на леката сладост, която присъства, но не натрапчиво.
- ВКУС
Малц и дъб от първото докосване. Следват подправки сладък пипер, индийско орехче и накрая остър завой към медена сладост. Текстурата е лека до средна, чиста, а не кремообразна. Кафето и кожата придават и подчертават консервативния и класически характер. Дъбът дава общата рамка и подчертава леките плодови вкусове, без да ги прикрива.
- ФИНАЛ
Среден до средно дълъг. Дъбът, леко препеченото кафе и нотката кожа се запазват; медът поставя точка допълнен с леки билки.
- КАК ДА КОНСУМИРАМЕ:
Солидно уиски с малко чисти плодове, премерен дъб, нежни подправки. Изискано и отлично композирано. Без излишна помпозност. Напитка за официални поводи или спокойно съзерцание. За тези, които предпочитат баланс пред апломба. Комбинирайте с бадеми бишкоти или меки сирена.

The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 12 Years Old
Between Whiskey Fest and Whiskey Journey — and still waiting for an event in Bulgaria to use the correct word “Whisky” — here’s one of my early tastings. Macallan stayed off my radar for a long time, perhaps due to a personal bias toward the brand. Not about quality — that’s excellent, but because there are plenty of whiskies with similar merit and far less hype ……, but fame often outshouts equals. Still, bias isn’t the point; Let’s see what’s in the glass.
The distillery says that Triple Cask is a magical marriage of European oak seasoned with sherry, American oak seasoned with sherry, and American ex-bourbon barrels. The aim: sherry elegance, vanilla brightness, and clean oak structure in a seamless, approachable style.

The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 12 Years Old forms part of our Triple Cask Matured range; a series of single malt whiskies crafted in a triple cask combination of European and American sherry seasoned oak casks and American ex-bourbon oak casks. This complex combination of oak casks delivers an extraordinarily smooth and delicate character, full of citrus fruits, vanilla and fresh oak.

Medium balanced with lemon citrus, vanilla and light toasted oak and nutmeg.

The Macallan Triple Cask Matured 12 years old is created from a trinity of spirits, matured individually in European sherry seasoned oak casks, American sherry seasoned oak casks and American ex-bourbon oak casks. Once filled, the maturing spirit remains undisturbed in the same casks for 12 years – after which this complex combination of casks is exquisitely and expertly married together to create this vibrant single malt.
Triple Cask Matured 12 Years Old was previously known as Fine Oak 12 Years Old and offers the same extraordinarily smooth, delicate yet complex character with a new name, new bottle and bold new packaging.

- COLOUR
Light gold. Wandering why The Macallan mean under “straw”
- NOSE
Bright, well-defined fruit: citrus zest, peach, and acacia honey lead. Vanilla sits behind, with a bouquet of garden flowers. With time, the aromas separate and recombine into a fresh “spring” profile. Hints of shortbread and light oak polish appear on repeat nosing. A gentle mineral thread keeps it tidy; sweetness is present but never cloying.
- PALATE
Immediate malt and oak. Spice forward – white pepper, nutmeg, then a turn toward honeyed sweetness. Texture is light-to-medium, clean rather than creamy. Underlying coffee and leather lend a conservative, classic tone. The oak framework remains present throughout, guiding the fruit rather than smothering it.
- FINISH
Medium to medium-long. Oak spice, light roast coffee and a touch of leather persist; honey echoes last, with a faint herbal dryness at the edge.
- HOW TO DRINK:
Neat works. Serious at heart with a light wink: clean fruit, measured oak, gentle spice. Not showy, but impeccably composed. A quiet daily dram for those who prefer balance over bravado. Pair with almond biscotti or mild cheddar.
